Recent Westin St Francis Review: "When my girlfriend and I arrived at the Westin St. Francis at 1:30am after traveling all day from Chicago, we were not too pleased to hear that the hotel had overbooked rooms so we were going to have to move to another hotel for that night. The manager on-duty at the time seemed truly upset and promised to make it up to us. They provided us with taxi vouchers to get to and from the other hotel and paid for the room while also refunding us the money for our first night. When we returned to the Westin the next morning, they had upgraded our room to a corner suite and they gave us breakfast vouchers for their restaurant (the Oak Room) for our entire stay (considering the buffet costs $25/person that was quite a money-saver). Each night we returned to our room the hotel had left a note from a different manager apologizing with a snack and/or beverage. Getting to the room in the "new" tower is a great treat as the elevators are on the outside of the hotel and you get a terrific view of downtown SF. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful, and the hotel was very, very lively. Both business men and women and foreign and domestic travelers filled the coffee spot, bar and restaurant. Location wise, you could not ask for a better spot - you can walk 2 blocks to the shopping and restaurants on Market St. or jump on the cable car and head right to Fishermans' Wharf. Obviously our experience at the Westin is slightly skewed because we were pampered a bit after being sent away for the first night. We booked a room for about $130/night and that price is more than fair for the quality of this hotel. If you are going to SF for the first time and you want a centrally-located, clean, fun, well-run hotel, this is exactly the hotel for you."
