Recent W San Francisco Review: "I lived in the SF Bay Area for about 18 years and was returning for a very quick, one-night stay. When I've made previous trips I've stayed at some of the well-known hotels in the Union Square area. The W hotel is by far the best hotel I've stayed in.
The location is excellent, especially if you're interested in the Museum of Modern Art (and you should be!). It's just a short walk to Market Street or the Moscone Center. It's a little farther to shopping and Union Square, but it's totally walkable.
The hotel itself is gorgeous. It's very modern--the lobbies, rooms, elevators, etc. If you like that sort of thing (and I really do), you will be very satisfied.
Drawbacksr The costs, of course. I got a good deal, but it's possible that the cost alone will discourage some. I didn't stay long enough to make use of any of the amenities, but I gather they are excellent...but pricey.
So, the bottom line: If you can afford it, and you love modern style, choose the W. You will not be disappointed."
