I have stayed at this hotel three times before. It is an excellent venue for my purposes. It is across the street from Golden Gate Park which is outstanding. It is also within walking distance (up hill) from several nice restaurants. You get excellent value for your dollar at this hotel. The breakfast in the morning is complimentary and very enjoya  ble.

I found the Stanyon Park hotel to be charming and comfortable. The continental breakfast and breakfast room are very european and high quality. If I have any criticism it would be only that the front desk people could have a more friendly demeanor. They were amenable but just not very friendly. Otherwise, I really liked this hotel and would definitely  stay there again.

Being a long time fan of Rod McKuen's book of poems, Stanyan Street & Other Sorrows, when I planned my San Francisco trip, I was thrilled to find the Stanyan Park Hotel! It's located in an historic building, and is staffed by friendly, efficient personnel. The hotel is perfectly situated to explore the Haight-Ashbury area, and it's a chance to explore  the Peace, Love, Rock & Roll vibe of the 60's. Our Walking Tour of the Haight was fantastic, and I really had a sense of the 60's by staying at this hotel. If you're into the traditional tourist areas, this place is off the beaten path, but if you want to use taxis or learn the bus system, everything is accessible for your visit. Our room was large and very roomy, well appointed and comfortable...with the exception of the beds. Instead of two twin beds, the room only had two single beds (I haven't slept in one of those since my teen years). The room was large enough for bigger beds, and my matress did need to be replaced. The clank of springs every time I turned over was annoying. Luckily I can sleep on a picket fence, so my sleep was undisturbed. My nephew however, was concerned that he'd roll over & fall of! the bed (I don't think he's ever been confined to a single bed in all his life)! I loved the historic feel of the building and the rate included a complimentary continental breakfast. San Francisco can be downright cold in the summer, so we needed the extra blankets provided by housekeeping. Perhaps the hotel should consider giving a little heat just to take the chill of the room. It was a very enjoyable stay for a very reasonable price! It served my purpose fantastically, and after 2 nights at the Stanyan Park Hotel, we moved over to a hotel on Nob Hill so that we'd be more centrally located, and able to use cable cars to visit the major sights of San Francisco!

This is a lovely small hotel on the edge of Golden Gate Park. Originally built in the early 1900s, Its Victorian- era facade and decor have an authentic feel, and restoration has provided all the modern comforts including Wi-Fi. We love the location as it is close to our daughter who lives in the Sunset district, but if you want to be close to the city  center it's a bit out of the way. The rooms are small but comfortable, the staff friendly, and the complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea are delicious.

Older hotel with no modern amenities such as pool etc. May not want to stay if you have children. The breakfast was simple, but fresh, not like items were bought at a discount store. Awesome banana bread served at breakfast and afternoon tea. Some panhandlers, but a no was respected. Front desk was helpful on directions to get to Fisherman's Wharf and  San Francisco info in general. Would stay again.

Breakfast was included and served downstairs. There was also afternoon tea and coffee. Very comfortable place to stay, the staff were all very nice and helpful. I had never been to San Francisco before and they were helpful in welcoming me. There was free wireless access and a couple computer stations for guest use. I had a late flight and checkout was at 12:00 noon, but I was able to store my bags at the hotel after check out. Great location if you want to visit Golden Gate park. Lots of great cultural restaurants just a walking distance away!
