Recent Stanford Court Renaissance Review: "As local residents, we know San Francisco well and had always heard wonderful things about the Stanford Court Hotel. Many friends always look forward to staying there. We weren't dissappointer either. Starting with the staff at the street valet service and all the way through the restaurant staff we were always greeted with smiles and people who knew us by name. The overall package was one of comfort in every aspect. Being Valentines Day, we were thrilled when the Maitre'd (sp)gifted us with with a small bottle of Veuve Cliquot and a box of chocolate truffels. The only glitches in the operation of features were the digital flat screen TV only broadcast in analog, including a first run movie we purchased. The other was some of the menu items in the resaurant. A lobster appetizer came out somewhat cold, my chicken dish was far better than the salmon dish (bland sauce and tepid) and the creme brulee with braised banana had a very flacid, tepid banana. This dish was a real dissappointment after the praise the waiter gave it and the presentation was blah with not colors or contrasts. Other than those minor things, we will surely return to and recommend the Stanford Court Hotel. Did I mention that the Hotel.com rate for a room here was less than I have paid at a motel in San Franciscor That made it great too!"

A cable car stop is located adjacent to the hotel and provides transportation to and from attractions throughout San Francisco, including my favorite, the Chinatown Gate that marks the entrance to Chinatown's eclectic shops, restaurants and art galleries.

    One mile away, the Embarcadero has a bayside promenade ideal for walking, biking, jogging, and in-line skating. A seasonal ice-skating rink is located at the Embarcadero Center. Boating, fishing, sailing, and surfing are popular at various areas around the bay, including several beaches within three to 10 miles. The Presidio Golf Course, three miles from the hotel, is open to the public. Huntington Park, about a block from the hotel, includes a playground, a dog-friendly area, and picturesque fountains.
