Recent Queen Anne Hotel Review: "The Queen Anne Hotel in San Francisco in the Japantown neighborhood is a classy hotel which I would definitely recommend. It has a spacious Victorian lobby with two fireplaces. Free newspapers are available every day. A very friendly concierge is available to assist you with all kinds of questions. The location is great. Japantown and the Filmore Street area is a short walk as is the fast Geary street bus. The hotel is quiet and comfortable. The only negative is the mediocre breakfast but given that most San Francisco hotels don't provide breakfast it is nice to be able to breakfast in the hotel. Also, ending the breakfast a 9AM on weekdays is inconvenient for non-business tourists who want to sleep a little late. It would also be nice to have a small refrigerator in the room. Overall, the hotel is excellent and we will definitely return."

| Expert Tip |
Built in 1890 by silver baron Senator James Fair, the Queen Anne Hotel was originally an etiquette school for girls. According to legend, it is still haunted by the ghost of Mary Lake, who was the school's superintendent and mistress of Senator Fair.

This San Francisco hotel provides discounted access to three health clubs, all within three blocks.
For a scenic and invigorating workout starting right outside the hotel, walk four blocks up the steep hill (Octavia St) to Lafayette Park, the height of Pacific Heights. Take a breather at this pretty park, with its palm trees and dramatic city vistas. Here, too, are the best views of the huge Spreckels Mansion (2080 Washington St), a 55-room "palace" now reputedly owned by novelist Danielle Steel. Continue along Washington St, or explore the side streets, lined with historic homes.
Golden Gate Park, about 2.5 miles away, is a vast urban oasis with paved running and bicycling paths, tennis courts, and a lake with boat rentals. The park is also home to some of the city's most famous attractions, including the de Young Museum and the Conservatory of Flowers.
