Recent Powell Hotel Review: "This is the best hotel as for location, just outside is the cable cars (which go to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39) and sitting on the same corner is BART and The MUNI which will take you anywhere in the city and Bart will take you out. The ticket booth also sits on this corner and for 7 days or 3 days you can buy a pass which covers all three modes  of transportation. And passes are cheap. The hotel built in 1908 is just that, althought they have kept it updated. The rooms are small but confortable and clean The beds are confortable and the staff is great. I told them about my insulin which needed refrigerated and they brought me a refrig no charge. They allow you to use their computer to check in to the airlines and for other things also. For the money it is great. It is not all fancy but it is clean and the staff is great. The only thing that I could complain about (but have since found out all the hotels in the city are the same) is the parking. It is valet parking and you must calculate it in because its not part of the hotel charge and you must call the front desk at least a half of an hour before you need the car, as parking is not on site. But we endedup parking the car and using the trolleys and munis, we only needed the car to drive over the golden gate and go to the airport. Next time we most likely will not rent a car since there is nowhere in the city to park and all car lots are OUTRAGEOUS"
