Recent Lombard Motor Inn Review: "I very much enjoyed staying in this hotel. The location was perfect--I wanted to be near Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, and the piers (such as for the tour to Alcatraz) which were an easy walk or convenient bus ride away (buy a Muni pass for easy bus, cable car, and streetcar riding). There is nearby bus transportation to seemingly any and everywhere. For your car, there is ample parking in the hotel's garage, and it is free, unlike most S.F. hotels that charge a lot for parking. Walk across the street to Cafe Lombard for delicious breakfasts and Italian and seafood, and Bobo's steakhouse for outstanding dinners.
Service in this hotel was friendly and outstanding. The maids were very quiet in the hallways, yet did an excellent job of cleaning. This actually was the cleanest hotel I have ever been in, and I got the idea that management and staff really care a lot about conditions in the hotel and comfort and convenience for the guests.
My room was on the Lombard Street side, which I wanted, because that side has balconies and a view of the city. The other side has no balconies and faces the building behind, yet apparently is quieter. However, I suffered no noise from Lombard Street and slept perfectly in that comfortable king size bed. It was even possible to set the perfect temperature in the room's air conditioner/heater unit (which hardly made a sound).
They have free wireless Internet and the minute you click on your browser, you are on-line. Their wireless works better than mine at home--instant on and never cut out on me!
There is nothing that I could complain about my stay there and for sure I will be back next time I get to go to San Francisco again--I hope that it will be soon!"
