| The staff of the Layne Hotel was exceptionally cordial and helpful, and for our low-budget vacation it was more than worth the cost. Only complaints are with the wi-fi service, the lack of free hotel parking and the immediate neighborhood, but none of those factors bothered us at all. (Well, free parking would have been nice, but it's downtown San Francisco.) |

| The service was horrible. My boyfriend and I along with some friends went to San francisco for the weekend and from the second we arrived the woman at the front desk made it clear that she did not like us. I think she assumed we were some "punk kids" and she treated us like we were the entire time. She watched us like hawks, talked down to us, and even raised her voice to my boyfriend when he asked for an additional key. We were polite, friendly, and very well-mannered through-out the entire stay - trying to take the "kill her with kindness" approach and show her that we were not in fact punk kids. no luck! We checked out about 4 hours earlier than planned and headed home. |

| The hotel staff went out of their way to help us find places to eat and things to do. They even set up reservations for us and got us tables with beautiful views. I definitely recommend this place, it is an old remodeled hotel that is in excellent shape and is close to trolly cars that can take you down to the Wharf, and it's close to a big mall, lots of stores, and lots of food. Have fun! |
