Recent Howard Johnson Express South Review: "Don't be put off by the drab exterior of this Motel. Is is in fact a nice little gem. Very good free airport transfer (every 20 minutes) A very warm welcome at reception. The girl (sorry I did not get her name) was friendly and full of helpful advice. The room had recently been decorated and was spacious. It was clean and no evidence of bugs. Because  I used all of my coffee one day the maid left a few extras the next. Nothing seemed to be any trouble with the staff at this hotel. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. You soon get to learn in the USA that anything that includes the word "deluxe" actually means what is normally expected. Without that word, expect substandard! It was nice to have fresh fruit and cereal available. All in all this was a good hotel with a homely welcome. If you are going into San Francisco take the airport transfer bus and take the Bart. Reasonable fare and quite quick."
