Great location. Room clean. King bed. Worst pillows ever. I suggest you bring your own. I bought one at Macy's after the 1st night.

Not a very modern hotel, but clean and the rooms are large. We were very comfortable there and the staff was helpful.

I stayed at the Hotel Milano during a recent visit to San Francisco to run in the SF Half Marathon. I chose it because of the price, the location, and reviews that didn't score the place too harshly. I had a good experience staying at the hotel. I don't make too many demands when I look for a place to stay. It's not a four star resort, but I wasn't  looking for (or needing) that. Clean towels, sheets, carpet, and room overall? Check. Working utilities? Check. Paying attention to my 'Do Not Disturb' sign as on a short trip I don't need my room cleaned? Affirmative. Hold my bag when I arrive early, allow for a late checkout with no additional fee? Score. Hotel Milano provided all of that. It's location is very convenient - one block from market and Powell, so many major bus, trolley, and the BART lines are all just a few steps away. Union Square is another block or so, and there are many restaurants and places to shop within a few minutes walk. Sure, if you turn the wrong direction late at night you might run into a seedier part of town, but as long as you have your bearings and know your route, you'll be fine. Not once did I feel insecure. Across Market Street is a MUNI booth to get bus passes and a place to board the world-famous trolley cars. The only issue I had with my stay was that the ice machines weren't working. A trip to the front desk remedied that, as they brought me back a bucket of ice to help keep my pre-race beverages and food chill.

The last time we stayed at this hotel, it had a mini-bar. Not any more. It also had pay-as-you-eat snacks. Not any more. The soda machine was broken, the ice machine was broken. BUT... the bed was super comfortable, the room was huge, the sofa was nice to have. It is a short walk away to Union Square and the cable cars.

I stayed at the Milano mainly to be close to Union Square and to be within walking distance for shopping with my teenage daughter. The Nordstroms Mall is right next door and Union square is right there where there is a multitude of shops and resteraunts. You couldnt ask for an easier place to stay that is convienent and less expensive then the other  larger Hotels. ( valet parking was a breeze but a little tight getting in). Our Junior suite room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The Thai resteraunt downstairs near the lobby was a good place to grap a bite and a cocktail after shopping. We had breakfast right across the street at a quaint breakfast/lunch place and the food there was good too.A very pleasant stay.

I was in town for a conference and had to stay an extra day. The hotel I was in was filled and would not extend. I found the Milano on line and booked. I liked its convenient location, was nicely surprised by the room size and impressed with the cleanliness. Definitely would recommend to anyone and look forward to my next stay.

This is a fantastic little hotel in the trendy part of SOMA right next to a couple of SF's more happening restaurants/bars. The staff here is great, the hotel is well maintained and it just generally lives up to the Kimpton brand. The only problem was that my room ended up being tiny. Comfortable, but it barely fit the desk and double bed that was in  there, which at this price was a bit unexpected.

We booked for the great location and a good price for a weekend in the city. We did not require much more than a place to sleep. The room was surprisingly large, nice, comfortable and quiet. Check in and out was quick and easy and the staff was great. Not sure if this is a great hotel if we just lucked out and got an upgraded room for a good price.  Either way this hotel earned a second visit.
