Recent Hotel Des Arts Review: "Our room was comfortable and very attractive -- loved the designs painted on the walls, and the claw-footed tub! -- and the towels were probably the best I've ever had in a hotel of any price. The bed didn't have a spring or box mattress, but we slept so well that obviously that was no problem. The location, just down from the Chinatown Gate, was very convenient: we walked everywhere (half an hour, briskly, to Pier 39; less to North Beach; 5 min to BART back to airport). Staff was pleasant and friendly, and held our luggage for us on checkout day while we did a little more sightseeing. Only quibble: the "breakfast room" is so tiny there are no tables, though there are some stools to perch on while trying to hold on to your plate and cup. Just plan on taking everything back to your room to eat. Or grab a cup of coffee and walk outside to one of the interesting local restaurants for a more elaborate meal. Would definitely stay here again. Rate was good for San Francisco, location was great, room was clean and comfy and fun."
