| This is right near the heart of Union Square. I loved being near the cable cars. We had a 3 room suite and it worked great for my mom, daughter and son-in-law, and me--giving adequate separation and privacy. Furnishings are spare, but beds very comfy. TVs small, but I didn't come to SF to watch TV. Our early May visit made the rooms cool and comfortable. There is street noise, but I use ear plugs and eye mask and don't have a problem with that. We were on top floor near the back. There is a coffee/tea maker in the room (stocked). I would definitely stay there again. |

| Great hotel for the price. Old, but fixed up very cute. Beds were not comfortable and the day time front desk gal was not friendly whatsoever. But for the two nights we were there, it was just fine. |

| Right in the heart of Union Square means you're right in the action day and night so it can be noisy. The radiator clanked the entire night but the bed was uber-comfortable. Minimalistic hotel but how much time do you spend in a hotel anyway? My only complaint was that they gave me the password for the internet and I was never able to get it working. |

| The location of this hotel is amazing, right on Powell walking distance from the downtown Westfield mall, Union Square, convenient transportation (cab or muni) everywhere, reasonable priced parking lot near by. Places to shop and get food right outside the hotel. But the actual hotel itself was filled with ikea furniture, dingy walls, and tiny TVs. The bathroom was reasonable clean. The best part of the room was the bed! Great mattress, great down comforter, nice pillows. If you are looking for a reasonable priced hotel, that's comfortable to stay in and convenient location, but you are not planning on spending a lot of time there pick this place. If you are looking for luxury, maybe not the best pick. |

| The website pictures are deceiving. We were given a room in the front of the hotel overlooking Powell Street. Outside you can hear all of the city noise - including the clacking and clanging of the cable cars. The curtains in the room could not block the red glow of the "HERBERT" neon sign outside our window. The interior of the room had a large iron earthquake beam that ran from wall to wall over our bed.
So if you want a room that you can't sleep in at night, then this hotel is for you. |

| The Herbert is right in the middle of Union Square and all of the shopping and attractions you want to see. The cable car line runs right in front of the hotel and it was very convenient. The hotel is old and the rooms weren't fancy, but it was great for the price that I paid and exactly what I needed since I didn't spend a lot of time in the room. |

| I loved this place! It is in a great location and the rooms are super nice for what you pay! Great for a getaway with friends, etc. Not necessarily something you would want to go to for a romantic weekend tho. |

| Toilet was messed up when we got there, but it was fixed within a reasonable amount of time given that their staffing is limited to one front desk person and a few housekeepers. Great location...a block from union square and in a prime shopping area. Right on trolley line and a block and a half from the Market St. streetcar. Pretty sweet deal given it's proximity to areas of importance. |

| Please note, parking is not on site for this hotel and is not included in the room rate. The area the hotel is located in is very congested. The hotel offers a discount at a parking garage one block away, but the garage was full when we arrived, so we wound up paying $25 for overnight parking elsewhere.
Otherwise, the hotel was about what I expected for the price. Simple but clean. It's a great place to stay if you are just in for one night and don't plan to spend much time at the hotel. |

| 1) The listing cited 'parking' among the amenities... in fact, parking is around the corner, and costs $25
2) Noise: on check in, I was told the room was quiet... it was not! lots of street noise, including cable cars
3) Free internet connectivity was promised throughout the hotel. On the seventh floor there was none, except for T-Mobile from a nearby Starbucks |
