| I read the reviews for this hotel and I expected to have some trouble with the neighborhood and with the condition of the room. I did not. The neighborhood is better than I expected, and the room was perfect. No air conditioning could be trouble on warm days, but on the twelfth floor, I did not hear any loud noises at night that interrupted my sleep. I loved the lobby and the modern furnishings of the room itself. It was very clean and the modern phone and kitchen area was great. The bed and television were new, clean, and exceeded my expectations, as did the bathroom. The location was extremely convenient. |

| We were pleasantly surprised when we checked into our room. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable. When we checked out of the hotel, we asked the employee working behind the counter if she could hold our bags for the afternoon. She told us we could leave our bags in an open, unlocked closet in the lobby, but she would not hold them for us. We kindly asked her again if she could find a more secure spot than the lobby, and she responded "don't tell me what to do." With the exception of this particular employee's lack of customer service skills, the Gaylord Suites is a great hotel and a great price. |

| great location near Union Square, shopping and trolleys. Room was spacious with mini kitchen and dishes. Huge walk in closet. Very modern and chic. Felt more like a studio apartment than a hotel. very nice "spa package of toiletrees" Elevators were not working so we had to use staircase the entire visit and carry bags up and down to 3rd floor. (employees were more than happy to help us) Room was not cleaned the 2nd day (after we had requested that morning that it be cleaned by 1pm) They did eventually get to it after 4pm. No business center or computer for guests. Overall great place to stay for the money. |

| When I read the reviews and saw the pictures of this hotel, I was really excited to go stay there. The room was very clean, TV with DVD, small kitchenette and a large selection of toiletries for use in the room - new. The hallways were a little rundown and the elevator was out of order while we were there. It turns out that they also rent rooms to people for weekly and monthly stays. The walk to our hotel from the Bart station on Jones was a bit sketchy. Many people out on the street, unbathed, a man was urinating less than 2 feet from where we walked up the sidewalk out in the open. We felt, needless to say, a bit uncomfortable walking through all this with our bags. I suggest getting off on the Powell street station and walking up Geary to Jones if you take the BART.
Besides that, convenient location - we walked to Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach, and down to SOMA. Ah! Almost forgot, request a room off the street if you don't plan on being out all night. Night traffic is loud.
In a nutshell: Rooms clean and nice, service helpful, neighborhood convenient but you wouldn't want to walk in all directions. 3 Stars. |

| All in all, a marginal "3 Star" hotel,
although I got pretty much what I counted on for the money. On the plus side were the better than expected room furnishings and knowledgeable and friendly hotel staff. On the negative side, the neighborhood is a little seedy, the public areas were a little run down and the lone elevator was very slow...when it worked at all!
I would go back on business (not for pleasure), but only if I had to be near the Moscone Center, and only on a tight travel budget. |

| I liked this hotel a lot. It is nice, clean, and has a lot of personality, not your regular chain hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful and rooms are clean and comfortable. Good location, close to downtown and Chinatown. The area is busy. |

| Lobby/elevator/hallways:
The hotel front is very nice as are the front doors. the lobby has high ceilings, some very nice architectual details, is somewhat sparse and had some flies, but was well kept otherwise. the elevator was in need of renovation. the hallways were a bit dark and while the carpet was a nice pattern, it was dark which made it look dirty, but I don't think it was.
The room:
hall: room had a bit of a hallway from front door to bedroom. hall had bathroom, two closets off of it and had the kitchenette in it.
bathroom: had very nice marble everywhere, but no space to really put your stuff except top of toilet tank, did have medicine cabinet, really really nice toiletries.
Closets: There were two closets in our room (we used neither), one was like a coat closet, the other was a huge walk-in closet (like another room).
Bedroom: was comfortable, nice comforter/TV/leather chair/ and desk. Room a bit bland because it was all white with dark wood floors and dark wood furnature, but had an interesting ceiling which compensated and a nice view of the city (we were on 9th floor). windows opened- let in very nice SF breeze. Room a bit load, but that's just being in a city.
Kitchenette: was nice- they provided sponge and dish soap, microwave, small frig, flatware, dishes, glasses, small sink as well. Great way to save a bit of money as you can have some meals/snacks there instead of eating out all the time.
Downside: room need some serious touching up- several scuffs on paint, areas that had been touched up with different finish of paint on door, some poor spackle jobs, some water marks on closet walls.
Neighborhood: if you walk one direction- really sketchy, if you walk another- not so bad because lots of tourists. just a few blocks from Bart, close to lots of nice restaurants and Union Square.
overall: clearly renovated, but still needed a facelift on painting in rooms and elevator. Not greatest area, but not worst |

| the hotel was charming, the room was clean and contemporary and the location was very central. overall a great place to stay!! |
