Recent Encore Express Review: "This hotel has no reception of its own. You must check in about a block away at a much nicer 5 star hotel. They give you a key card and you go about a block away to get in. Once there, however, I was surprised at how clean and nice everything was kept. My room was very small, but perfectly clean, nicely appointed, a refrigerator, small desk, television, and small sink with large mirror. Overall the look was cute, quaint and clean. The hotel was only a short walk to almost everything I wanted to do in SF. I paid a very reasonable price, and it was well worth it. I will finally be going back to SF regularly, now that there is a hotel like this."

Nearby, City Hall’s golden dome sparkles amid the Civic Center’s concrete gray. The live arts thrive at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center, one of the nation’s largest. A five-tiered Peace Pagoda marks Japantown. Castro District, the city’s main gay neighborhood, is a short ride away, as is Haight-Ashbury, the counterculture bastion that is a gateway to Golden Gate Park.
