Recent Baldwin Hotel Review: "Hotel/Room Details: The hotel is typical of San Francisco - kinda skinny but with lots of character. It is a ten story or so building with a tiny elevator. It can be noisy and I imagine rooms right next to it suck but we are one room removed and never heard a peep. We faced Grant so we were able to people watch while getting beautiful views. We did  hear a lot of garbage trucks but if you're tired from walking around all day the noise really won't bother you all that much. We opted to have room service only every few days because we aren't the type to need fresh sheets on a hotel stay. We did hang out towels because we would have been fine using the same ones the whole time we were there but the maid did replace them. That was the one thing that irked me a bit. I LOVED the towel animals on the bed each day when we got back. It showed a thoughtfulness you don't get a chain hotels. I can't say anything about parking, internet or anything like that since I didn't use them, but the front desk was courteous and helpful. Whenever we had a question, they were right there with an answer. Location/Neighborhood Details: I went to San Francisco for a Write-a-thon Charity event. I wanted to be close to the venue while also being near to a BART station and other "tourist" type things. I chose Baldwin because price and location were incomparable. It is situated right near the entrance to Chinatown (perfect for when you need a last minute gift or umbrella) while being walking distance to Union Square for the shopaholics. There is a great bagel place around the corner on Sutter that serves a quick breakfast. It is a short walk to the Bart and it is just a few streets over from the trolley. It's quite a hike if you are thinking of going to Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz or Coit Tower, but you can always get the 7 day public transit pass that will allow you quick transportation. The location is great because it's near where many of the buses and such pass through. It was a 5 minute walk"
