Recent Baldwin Review: "Very clean, hotel with helpful, friendly staff- we are looking forward to another visit to the Baldwin! The Baldwin is located in a great location within walking distance to many attractions and types of transporation - we could see the gates of China Town right from our room. Our room was very clean, and freshly painted. This is a beautiful older hotel, that is very clean, freshly renovated, and friendly. That is just what we wanted, not a "big box" hotel. We arrived early, and the staff was very accomodating, watching our luggage while we did some sight seeing. We requested a street-front room on an upper floor, and were given just that. Newer windows that you can open if you wish, so traffic noise was not a problem. The area is very nice,and we were very happy we didn't select another hotel in other parts of SF that are not so nice (it can be hard to sort through all of this on the internet), or a hotel with less friendly character. The front desk staff was also able to secure Alcatraz tickets for us on a few hours notice. Highly recommended, a suprising gem of a hotel for the price if you are not looking for luxery, and really a highlight of our vacation!"
