Recent Ritz-carlton Half Review: "I've never stayed at a Ritz Carlton before, so when the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at it. The property, staff, restaurants, proximity to the ocean and view, everything, was fabulous. The only downfall was that we were placed in a beautiful room directly below the restuarant. So no matter what time of day, even during the middle of the night, we heard footsteps and movement above us. So if you have the opportunity to stay at this hotel, do so. It is worth it, just make sure you don't get placed on the second floor beneath the restaurants."

This 19th century estate-fashioned hotel stands on an ocean bluff leading to a golden beach and two golf courses. The town of Half Moon Bay is three miles from the property. The hotel is within five miles of the Obester Winery and horse stables.

The Navio serves North California coastal dishes including smoked sturgeon, trout almandine and hand-cut tagliatelle. Snacks and beverages are provided within the wicker-furnished outdoor Conservatory Lounge. The Ritz-Carlton, Half-Moon Bay offers 5,000 bottles of wine, an assortment of cheeses and chocolate flights in the ENO Wine Room. The Ritz-Carlton Spa features 16 treatment rooms, a beauty salon and a candlelit co-ed Roman mineral bath are provided on the bluff. The hotel features a fitness facility, outfitted with Cybex machines, a heated yoga studio, six tennis courts and a basketball half-court. Each guestroom at the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is furnished and decorated to complement the hotel's manor motif. Cherry-stained wooden furnishings, embellished with cream and teal fabrics, are accentuated by daylight filtering in from the broad-framed windows. Guestrooms feature the hotel's signature feather-bed with duvets, goose-down and hypoallergenic pillows and 300-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. Terry-cloth bathrobes are included in the marbled bathrooms. Rooms feature cable television and high-speed Internet access. Minibars, refrigerators and large desks are standard room amenities. Two championship 18-hole golf courses are on the property (though not owned by the resort). The Ocean Course features traditional Scottish design and Pacific Ocean views from every hole. The parkland-style Old Course was Francis Duane and Arnold Palmer in 1973, and redesigned by Arthur Hills in 1999. The resort also offers six lighted tennis courts and a health club with an indoor lap pool (both are included in the resort fee, with surcharge for tennis pro services).
Additional activities at or near the resort include guided hikes, sea kayaking, horseback riding, bicycling, whale-watching, and deep-sea fishing (fee for most activities).
