Recent Whitcomb Historic Review: "For the price we paid through hotels.com and the central location of the hotel, we found our stay to be a pretty good deal. Make sure you add $28/night for parking (it's valet, so tips too) but everywhere in San Francisco has ridiculous parking rates so it's not absurd. The room was very small with barely enough room for the two double beds and a small desk and dresser, though for tourists like us where the room served only as a place to crash for the night... we didn't have any problem with it. The bathroom is small like the room, about the size of the closet, with no tub and only a stand up shower.
I mean for these things to serve as warnings so that you aren't surprised and not as complaints, because our experience at the hotel was fine. It was very clean, the beds were comfortable, everything in the room looked well maintained or new (except the TV but we never turned it on so... whatever), the staff helpful, etc."
